Boycott Riaa Profile: Winnie Jow - indie music activist
Posted by Mike (Shmoo) on January 3, 2007 at 11:24 AM   (printer friendly)

WINJOW is a model, activist,
songwriter, and indie music "mover-and-shaker" from LA. Perhaps we can convince her to show up here in our threads for an interview instead of doing it all from her MySpace page (which causes my older box/browser to have fits with the load-time ...and to crash all too frequently.)

(YUCK, I hate MySpace!) --Shmoo

I really appreciate WinJow for doing the social-networking she does, but from now on, I am going to avoid posting things about people who have all their stuff via MySpace.

That site is HORRIBLE for folks like me who have older computers/web-browsers. It takes 5 minutes or more just to load the profile on any single individual's page you wish to check out. (THEN, if you wanted to click on any of the links they provide... MORE web-browser crashing fun!!!)

========

Winnie, BLESS YOU for your indie-music efforts, but PLEASE find a different host!

Hi Winnie,

I'm the head of the Boycott RIAA websites and you've gotten the attention of our article admin as per the feature done on you that can be found here: http://www.boycott-riaa.com/article/21088

Getting his attention and getting mine tend to be the same thing in most cases.

Thanks for the link -- by the way :-)

He likely did not message you as I have because he likely does not have a myspace account (if he has contacted you, he has not said anything about it to me).

His statement about the article he posted is as follows:

"I really appreciate WinJow for doing the social-networking she does, but from now on, I am going to avoid posting things about people who have all their stuff via MySpace.

I agree with him. BRIAA is powered by the DMusic Servers which I think would be a far better alternative for you than Myspace. Sure, keep your Myspace account but also having a DMusic account is a strong reccomendation.

I too am an independent artist and my stuff can be seen here: http://twarrior.boycottriaa.com

The guy who posted the Article is also an independent artist (http://www.boycottriaa.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&task=view&catid=13&id=9)
and his band is called "Electric Gypsy" and the Copyright Litigator (one of many fighting the RIAA) owns the DMusic and BRIAA servers (he's "my boss" hehe) and he also is an independent artist (http://www.boycottriaa.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&task=view&catid=13&id=47) and his alias / handle is "leflaw" which is short for "Larry E Feldman at Law".

If you can have your stuff on DMusic (and / or elsewhere other than myspace) we also welcome you to sign up as a Boycott RIAA Certified Artist (http://www.boycottriaa.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=13&Itemid=133)

BRIAA in and of itself is undergoing alot of renovation. A massive re-design is under way and i'm the main man working the magic for that.

On behalf of Boycott RIAA as a whole -- I thank you for your support and we most certiantly give you ours!

-Dave

(Winnie, are you sure NARIP doesn't mind that you are a Boycott Riaa supporter? I'm sure you know that the majority of our folk take a dim view of MANY of the NARIP personel and their viewpoints.)

It's been a couple of years since this profile was posted. I have gained great respect copyright law and value the exploitation therein for songwriters and composers. For this reason I cannot continue to stand by the information posted herein. Thank you for your support but I am moving on to bigger and better things in the music business and therefore have to leave this chapter behind me. All the best - WINJOW6/25/09
