Alanis' MP3.com Stock
Posted by Heidi Chambers on May 15, 2000 at 5:11 PM   (printer friendly)

Canadian pop sensation Alanis Morissette has announced plans to sell $1 million worth of MP3.com stock (MPPP). She first acquired 329,328 shares of the stock last April and is now looking to lessen her load by 100,000 shares.

Is now really the best time for Alanis to sell her MPPP stock? My personal opinion is no, but then again I'm not a stock broker or a financial planner. The MP3.com stock has a 52 week high of $105.00 and a 52 week low of $6.50. Today's market has juggled the stock to around $13.00 and is presently down $0.56. I personally expect MPPP to rise quite a bit more in the future, which leads me to wonder why Morissette wants to sell. But then, maybe she knows something that we don't.

Maybe she needs the money now that her career is in the toilet.

Hm. People expected another angry album, she didn't make another angry album.

I liked her Jagged Little Pill album a lot better than "Supposed Infactuation..."

She needs to start rocklng again or she just sounds like another singing piano playing female.

She seriously in the toilet Angelo?

Oh ya, maybe she's wishing to invest in another company.. *shrug*.

I'm not a stock broker or a financial planner either but i bet ppl who buys low stocks now of mp3 sites and stuff, will earn a lot of money later on, no matters about that sueing and RIAA shit, because I now they will find, sooner or later, that music is free and mp3 is going to be a revolution.
YouŽll remember me when mp3s stocks will hit high in the market.

Why the heck should Alanis Morisette have stocks in MP3.Com for more than $4 Million?

My guess is that she got these shares for free in some kind of deal and that she wasn't allowed to sell until now. $4 million is just too much to have in a small company like MP3.Com and Alanis is probably smart enough to spread her financial risks. Or rather her financial adviser is.

This has not so much to do with how the future for MPPP looks. There are so many other stocks that are also cheap right now so it may be a smart move to diversify the portfolio a little.

Plenty of sponsors out there...
Plenty of profit in sponsorship if U do it right.

Start-ups need wiggies, whether corp. or celeb or both.

I haven't checked MP3.com's stock lately but, whether there up or down, people (basically) want 2 things when their: profit or their money back.

Didn't Alanis do a mp3.com features tour last summer that was available online? They offered her the stocks and its one year after now which is a good holding time
