DDMI USA 2000

"Are you ready for the Digital Music Revolution?" It seems that The Digital Distribution & the Music Industry will be holding the DDMI USA 2000 conference in the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills (CA) this year on 20-22 September 2000. The focus of the event of course being the ever evolving digital music revolution.

The 2000 event will stretch out 3 full days, a day longer then the DDMI USA '99 event. There is a slated 100+ "dynamic and inspirational speakers" which will attend the event and kick their ideas, thoughts, and feelings about the current state of the digital music revolution.

Some of the voices which will be heard loud at the event already shine though the online press release.

"What you'll see in the near future is a million artists and about 500,000 labels, and many artists becoming their own labels. The whole album paradigm will be redefined. It will be a singles market place and it will be shared by a million hands." - The ever infamous Chuck D.

"My opinion is that people who rely on copyright probably need to change their business model" - Ian Clarke, Designer and Coordinator, Freenet Project

Over the course of three days, attendees will learn from our Keynote Speakers and then, on the following days, choose between two conference streams. These streams - which divide up into 'Business Strategy' and 'Technology' and 'Marketing, Merchandising and Advertising' and 'Legal Issues' - will bring together unprecedented experiences in the Internet and Music Industry. Issues will be discussed in depth and conclusions drawn will empower attendees to build workable business strategies for the successful implementation of digital distribution.

Prices are a little high, coming in at $995 for a full three day pass, $895 for a two day pass, and mere $795 for press day only (*ouch*).

That price is actually pretty reasonable for an event like that. I get things in the mail all the time inviting me to Digital "Something" conferences, and most of them run $1000-2000 for 3 days at some hotel/resort. These events usually include special events as well--can anyone say "ice cream social"? :)
