Stephen King Takes Music Online

Stephen King is known mostly for his novels: Cujo, It, Carrie, and The Shining just to name a few. But now Mr. King has taken on a new form of expression. He and his rock band, the Rock Bottom Remainders, are putting their music online.

The group which also includes Amy Tan and Dave Barry, plan to release their music through MP3.com. So far only two songs are currently available, but more music is soon scheduled to be released. "Tupperware Blues" is a comical song written by Mr. Barry. It is described as, "Dave's tribute to the mother of all kitchen storage containers...Tupperware!" The band's other song, the classic "These Boots Are Made For Walking" is performed by Ms. Tan.

So far the group has made $67.24 in payback for playback earnings on MP3.com and the profits of the Rock Bottom Remainders go to charity.

Steven King is a revolutionary and I wish him the best of luck with his venture into the music business online.

I had NO idea he has his own band however.. what a pimp.

Perhaps he can show the world that an artist does not need a record contract to be large :)

I agree that Stephen King is a great writer. Can you imagine a world without Carrie, It, or Cujo? I think not.

The song "Tupperware Blues" really is quite funny and their rendition of "These Boots Are Made For Walking" isn't bad either. Best of luck to them.

I, too, think King is a free thinker and a terrific writer.

He won't be showing the world anything, however, if his band makes it big. You forget he's already got a name and some money? He could have gotten a label to sign him, no prob. The fact that he DIDN'T earns my respect.

The real proof will come when an artist that COULDN'T makes it big. :)
