MP3.com has announced that it has reached the 750,000 mark for songs that are available on the ever growing digital music portal.

Not only is the total number of songs available at record breaking levels, MP3.com also reports that the collection of music on the site is growing on a average of around 1,300 songs per day.

MP3.com, with a reported 1/4 of a million songs available less then a year ago, has tripled the amount of digital music available on the site in less then a year.

"The tripling of content on our site shows the incredible rate of growth in the digital music space during the last year. In illustration of that point, consider that we are adding an average of songs that amount to four and a half times real time -- that is, for every minute of real time, our site gains four and half minutes of content. That's a truly phenomenal statistic. Artists are discovering that they can reach a potentially global audience by posting their music online." - Micheal Roberson, chairman and CEO of MP3.com

Thumbs up to anyone who can name the movie this quote is from.

Yes, but who's to decide the quality? Unfortunately, we need to wade thru it all ourselves (quantity) if we're to judge for ourselves (quality). :)

"thank god there's a dmusic.com." I thoroughly agree, as you know, but let's face it, Anj, Marq's right in that bullshit is all in perception. In that respect, DMusic is no different from a label, by weeding out "ther bullshit" for it's patrons. :)
