Listen.com Drops 25% of Workforce
Posted by Mike Darrah on January 3, 2001 at 9:43 PM   (printer friendly)

It may be a new year, but the on-going downsizing trend which has ripped through the digital music industry continues with Listen.com reportedly letting go of 42 employees, a 25% reduction of it’s current staff.

While the company is reporting that it should reach profitability by sometime next year, many in the industry are left wondering when the trend to downsize and reorganize will end, and growth and revitalization of the industry will begin again.

Listen will place key focus on it’s syndication model, reduce marketing expenses, and keeping a watchful eye on the secure amount of cash which the company has stored in their corporate bank account.

If they let go 42 employees and that's 25% of their staff, that means they had over 160 people working for them. That's kinda crazy.
