XM Satellite Radio will then launch a second satellite, the XM-2 nicknamed "Rock" this coming spring.

In the mean time, XM Satellite is working on developing a solid infrastructure on land by teaming up with Dalet Digital Media Systems. The service will feature backend system based on IBM's Netfinity RAID storage and server solutions.

XM has announced that it is working with GM to have XM radios factory installed in upcoming models, along with working with Delphi-Delco, Sony, Alpine, and Pioneer to produce AM/FM/XM radios for the home and car at some point in 2001.

Once live, XM Satellite Radio will feature over 100 channels of music, sports, and talk radio programming.

If they have a wide variety of programming, this could really take off.

I know *I'm* interested... at least here in Philly, radio is just awful.

hey, this sounds cool. just hope nothing major screws up...like the satellite crashes or something. heh. anyway, i hope they implement this XM idea into stereos of new cars. that'd be neat.

They scrubbed the lauch at the last minute with no word as to why. Weather was reported to be perfect for launch, so it must've been technical problems.
