BMG's Digital Revolution Roars On

BMG announced today that they are substantially increasing the volume of digital music that they offer online, and will make new releases simultaneously available online as they hit traditional retail channels in the future.

BMG aggressively proceeds on transforming with the current market to adjust to growing consumer demand and desire for digital music. The company has announced that they are building up their retail network of digital distribution in a very impressive manner.

BMG has over 2,900 tracks available in digital download format, with the likes of such bands as Dave Mathews Band, Outkast, TLC, and David Gray to name a few.

With the future development of Napster into a powerhouse BMG digital distribution vehicle, and Alliance Entertainment's thestore24 now reaching over 50 retailer sites, BMG looks to be the first of the first major labels adjusting with technology and harnessing it's power rather then attempting to fight it and delay the inevitable.

I bet 10 to 1 that AOL / Time Warner is the next to really get down with the digital entertainment push.. I mean after all, isn't that what this "Mega-merger" was all about? It's finally been approved..

BMG has somewhat of the idea now. if only other labels would follow. but seriously, i really dont think this pay-for-mp3 thing will work out. i have a feeling it'll flop.

I agree, I woudn't pay to use napster. Maybe you should do an article about this and include a survey etc ! : )

I'd just look elsewhere on the internet for mp3s, I mean napsters great and all, but the majority of users have no credit card etc etc

Those're just the chatrooms. Most Napster users don't even go near those. ;)

i think only those people who are around that age actually go in the chatrooms. most "older" people tend to stay away.
