BOYCOTT-RIAA looking for webmaster
Posted by leflaw on November 20, 2008 at 8:10 AM   (printer friendly)

BOYCOTT-RIAA.com looking for webmaster to expand site and spread the word (and make little bit of $$$ maybe too...)

Must have knowledge of Linux (debian and redhat mostly), apache, mysql, php, flash video, widgets, etc, and know some network, hardware and web marketing basics. Would be helpful to know what the title of the website means.

We believe that with a little bit of attention and concentration, the site could be a winner. It was in the top 10,000 sites 4 years ago when the RIAA litigation campaign started, but the founder guy who was running it quit at the peak. Long story. Considering looking into adding an indie news service and record company to the site, since so many indie artists avoid the RIAA already. Flexible arrangements possible. Must be a team player. No prima donnas. Have plenty of them already. Will consider investors, if they are working partners. Or shall we say, co-conspirators :)

The whole "must have knowledge of..." section eliminates everyone I even know.

The requirements aren't too harsh, aside from debian linux. I don't know enough to do you any good. I think however, that technorat? does have the skillsets you require. Have you checked with him on this? He's matured considerably in the past few years.

sniff... did I get fired? (lol)

--but yeah, the knowledge of "Linux (debian and redhat mostly), apache, php, mySQL" parts are a bit above my head. (I have learned a whole bunch in the meantime about html and othersuch similar/related compu-suff!)

Free time to actually dig in and "do it" (and poverty) are what have held me back the most over the years.

I am one of the #1 devoted believers in the Boycott-RIAA message and purpose for being. I will assist and help as I can as much as time allows anyone who takes the helm (If/provided they demonstrate they BELIEVE in the goal and are TRYING to further the cause!)

Excuse me,

Technorati was his name. I believe he'd fit the requirements quiet nicely. And appears to be a friend of boycott-riaa.

Technorati, if your reading... Yea, I think you have the skills to do this, now don't be getting a big head over it. :)

Now for something completely ontopic.

We've heard about the pre antipiracy videos being shown in theaters and things. How many of you have actually seen one of them? Well, the other day, a friend rented a movie, and guess what? Before the previews was this 1 minute movie. According to the MPAA, Making time with your friends girl is okay, but pirating a DVD is not.

Anyhow, here's the link. I believe it's fair enough to distribute, as it's for commentary purposes.

Unless leflaw has changed his mind/outlook over these years...

folks, I believe he wants anyone and everyone who are willing to contribute TO DO SO!

(In whatever, even if limited, capacity you can!)

---------

Unless I am wrong, wasn't that the PURPOSE of the Boycott-RIAA website all along???

I'd quit my dayjob in a heartbeat if you could match what I make at $10/hr and 40 hrs per week!

(of course, you'd get probably twice as many hours per week from me at the price.)

-------

I'm just in a situation where every single penny counts twords keeping a roof over my and Andrea's head. (And, take into account I've been ducking the Student-Loan and other bill collectors for years who have finally found me!)

YRRRAAAGGGHH!
