Warner Music & AOL Share Promos

Following the success of their previous promotional campaigns, Warner Music Group and AOL stated that they plan to continue to promote Warner Music Group's (WMG) best talent through AOL and AOL's music services Winamp.com and Spinner.com.

The move comes as no surprise to most in the digital music industry. With the recently blessed merger of AOL and Time Warner, the continued online promotion of WMG's artists through AOL's music services seems only natural. These promotional campaigns have proven quite successful in the past for WMG artists such as Madonna and Matchbox Twenty.

With the announcement of the continued joint promotion, users of AOL will find a vast selection of WMG artists listed in the Music and Entertainment Channels of the AOL service. Some artists which are expected to be promoted in this campaign include, but are not limited too, Yolanda Adams, Barenaked Ladies, Bjork, Brandy, Tracy Chapman, The Corrs, Craig David, Depeche Mode, Missy Elliott, Jewel, Gerald Levert, Linkin Park, Natalie Merchant, REM, Silk, Staind, Rod Stewart, Sugar Ray and Vitamin C.

One thing that particularly caught my attention about some of these growing joint promotions by AOLTW is the fact that the press release mentioned that the plan on sticking AOL software on selected artists' CDs. Lets just hope that they don't start forcing people to install portions of AOL to listen to WMG artists on their PC's.
