Yahoo! Expands

Yahoo! will expand its online music library with its agreement to acquire Launch Media, Inc. for $12 million dollars.

In the deal announced on June 28, 2001; Launch's services will complement Yahoo's Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! Broadcast and Yahoo! Radio.

Launch being bought out had to settle its own problems first. Universal Music Group filed a copyright infringement suit filed by Universal and other record labels over Launchcast; which is Launch's Internet radio service. The settlement included a payment by Launch for past performances and a non-exclusive license with Universal Music Group for use of Universal Music Group recordings on Launchcast.
