"PARIS — The highest constitutional body in France on Wednesday defanged the government’s plan to cut off the Internet connections of digital pirates, saying the authorities had no right to do so without obtaining court approval.

The decision, by the Constitutional Council, which reviews legislation approved by Parliament before it goes into effect, is a major setback for the music and movie industries, which had praised the French law as a model solution to the problem of illegal file-sharing. "

AND NOW, A NOTE FROM CODEWARRIORZ...
Although we applaud the French Constitutional Council for making the right decision,
this whole attempt by the French government to be lackeys of the music and movie
copyright cartel, underscores the fact that there is a need for ALL people of the world,
to send a clear and convincing method, through political action and through boycotting
of the media companies acting in such draconian fashion, that we , the digital consumers,
are in the driver's seat, and ultimately, we have both the economic and political power,
and WILL, to put pressure on legislators, to put pressure on telecommunications companies,
that say that we oppose these actions, and that NO politician who becomes the puppet of
the media cartel, will get our vote, and that no company that acts as an agent of the
copyright cartel will receive our patronage.
