Sitting on the Brit side of the pond all I can say is as follows -
- Someone (?) organised and got this website up and running !!! Yeah them !!!
- interest for this website has increased dramatically in the last 3 to 4 weeks, I've done my best via KaZaA to spread the word by sending anyone who downloads off me a friendly message asking them to visit this site and the anti-RIAA petition site and show some support, since then another 60 people have signed the petition - has everyone else who reads and comments on the forum done the same or even seen the petition and signed it ? I hope so ! It's @ http://www.petitiononline.com/riaa/petition.html . . . go on . . .. go there now . . . sign it ! Maybe even spread the word yourself - it's not difficult !
- I've backed the boycott by informing my family and that of my girlfriend’s - telling them not to buy CD's unless it's a label we want to support, if they want music then I'll download it and they can have it, it's not because I don't want them to buy the music, it's because I don't want to fuel the RIAA's campaign, I want artists to be fairly rewarded - but artists signed to the RIAA (misguided because they're so desperate for a contract !!!) aren't rewarded at all hence even though I feel a little bit guilty when I'm downloading someone's new album - I'd prefer that guilt than to know I'm lining some fat cats pockets, if you can show me the artist's actually get a fair share of the 10 to 15 quid I spend on a CD then I'll buy it, I've downloaded both of Linkin Park's album's plus they're EP, but I feel guilty for doing so . . . . if they want to send me their address I'll post them a cheque to cover the royalties.
- So 2 little 'organised' things I've done myself - It's very easy for people just to sit back and say a lot but when it comes to action no-one will be the first to do so . . . . this website is the first step, The Register in the UK lambastes the RIAA & MPAA on a regular basis - we all do on here !?!
So why can't we take the next step eh ? - You put a donate button here or on KaZaA and I'll donate £10 a month, whether the money's used for signing new artists, hopefully successful one's who can then repay the initial funding at no extra ridiculous charge or if the money's used to lobby congress in the USA to oppose these silly bills I don't care . . . . just put your money where your mouth is . . . . we're not stupid I gather from some of the very intelligent conversations I've read here, even some of the insults and comebacks are intelligent  . . . so why can't this boycott be organised and moved forward small step by small step ? Using this website as a conduit to further our cause, the consumer's cause . . . ?
Ok you can read this and then read the next article and not lift a finger, thanks I hope you feel good about yourself ?, comeback and read it again if you've got a bit more backbone and you're willing to take a chance and make a change before it's all unchangeable . . . I live so far away from you . . . but I give a shit !

If you aren't going to do f##k all about the situation, you don't deserve to whinge about it, either put up your fists to fight or just plain shut up !

Well the number of signatures has increased by 20 since I posted this article to 158 - I'll keep updating this as time goes on. |

But this just show's how people need to be educated to the greed and manipulation that the RIAA and MPAA represent including all the companies they represent !!! |
