The RIAA has stated that MP3s are to blame for drops in music sales. I am here to claim THIS.....If the music companies put out REAL music that people WANTED to buy maybe just maybe we would see it as worth our cash but as of late all we get are shitty music like Backstreet Boys and other so called musicians. Tell me your thoughts....Keep it real

Hey, what's so bad about BSB? At least their music is a helluva lot better than 'N Sync's. The BSBs put out some really good melodies, and 5 years ago I bought their first import album many months before the less-good domestic CD came out. This also was when alternative rock was at its peak (Beck, Poe, Garbage), and pop music was out big time, so by no means was I following the crowd. I've enjoyed the music of BSB before they even became popular here.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. What I meant was, we are basically choked to death with BSB clones and Britney clones. I enjoyed BSB when they first came out but then they started cramming that type of music down our throats and didn't give us variety. For instance I enjoy hard rock/metal and I haven't really seen any GOOD music in that genre in a while.

Keep it real

What do you think of Andrew WK's new album? The whole thing totally kicks ass in my opinion. And I bought it at Target for $8. Now that's music to my ears...and wallet!

Here's my suggestion. For every band under a recording contract (God help them), there's ten groups without. You can make a difference locally by actively buying cds from the people you know. Get the word out. Play them for your friends until they're sick of hearing it. Do everything but buy albums from major labels and their subsidiaries, which I guess is the point of this site. But above and beyond, make sure the local guys know they can make a living without some faceless corporation giving them cold comfort for change and robbing them of their hopes.

I've actually found that a lot of opening bands at concerts have great music. Anyone ever hear the band "Billy Pilgrim" on the radio .. much? They've got a pretty good folk rock sound, and they opened for Melissa Etheridge a few years ago.. now I've got all their stuff. Point is, if you pay attention, you'll get past the fluff and falderall, and get to the artists that can turn you on, but don't pay the RIAA.
