Rogues Gallery-Hilary Rosen

After the recent success of the RIAA in all but castrating Napster, one would think her job at the RIAA would be quite secure. But is it?

One has to ask just how secure her position really is.

Consider the facts that the US Dept of Justice has launched an antitrust investigation into MusicNet and PressPlay, the ongoing CD price fixing lawsuit brought by 28 states, the European Union antitrust investigation, the introduction of the Music Online Competition Act by Congressmen Boucher and Cannon (a bipartisan bill), promises of the California Senate and the US House Entertainment Committee Task Force to open hearings into contract practices of the major labels. Let's not forget the Aimster Lawsuit and Professor Felton's Lawsuit.

Think about it, the RIAA is under attack from the artists, the publishers, the Dept. of Justice, 29 State Governments, European Countries, Congress, the online music companies, the academic community, copyright scholars, and the consumers.

Should we feel sorry for Hilary?........NAH!

To paraphrase an old saying I'm sure she's familiar with,
"A musician without the RIAA, is like a fish without a bicycle."
